One woman's response to Obama on his "Roe vs Wade" speech

Here’s an unbelievable quote from our “idiot-in-chief” given as part of the 39th anniversary speech celebrating the heinous “Roe vs Wade” decision legalizing abortion.  Speaking of the right to abortion on demand, he said, in part:
“We must also continue our efforts to ensure that our daughters have the same rights, freedoms, and oportunities as our sons to fulfill their dreams.”
Here’s a fantastic rebuttal from a righteously enraged blogger:
Story time.
There once was a beautiful girl, inside and out, who started to run with the wrong crowd in high school. Your run of the mill smoking and drinking eventually spiraled into heroin addiction. Her parents wouldn’t see her for weeks at a time, and when she did see them, she stole from them to feed her addiction. They burned through their finances trying various rehab programs that never worked for long, if at all. They were afraid that they had lost their daughter forever.
Then one day she showed up on their doorstep and said, “Mom, I’m pregnant.” Her mother despaired, saying, “Lord, what next?” Being a strong Catholic, she prayed that her daughter wouldn’t choose abortion, but she knew what would happen: the small child would be “taken care of” and the downward spiral would continue.
But the girl stunned her family, asking if she could move back in. She wanted to bear the child, and place him for adoption. Living for another inspired her to do what the rehab programs never could: she quit the heroin cold turkey. Her family was astounded as she not only religiously made all of her pre-natal OB appointments, but became a “health nut,” and scrutinized everything that she ate.
She started working with an adoption agency, preparing for the road ahead. Two months from her due date, we received a call from the agency, saying she liked our profile and wanted to meet with us. The meeting with her and her mother was magical. Having heard her back story, we didn’t quite know what to expect. So we were somewhat surprised to meet such a beautiful, sweet and thoughtful young woman, and we were astounded to learn what she had been through and how far she had come in those few months. We made an instant connection with her and her family.
Pregnancy wasn’t easy for her. You know how you react to pregnant women. You smile. You congratulate them. You ask them how the pregnancy is going. Everyone does this. In some stores, the employees ask them if they want to sign up for special shopping programs where they can get free diapers and formula for signing up. Now imagine going through this when you know that you won’t parent the child you are carrying. Heartache by a thousand cuts over a series of months.
She gave birth to a beautiful, healthy son in April. We were there for the birth. We saw her joy at the new life she had created and her inner despair at knowing that she couldn’t provide the home that she had dreamed of for her child. We saw her struggle with the idea that maybe, just maybe she could make it work….. And then we saw her fall to pieces after signing the papers relinquishing her parental rights.
It’s a difficult feeling knowing that your greatest joy is someone else’s greatest pain.
Our son is now an amazing nine month old little boy. To his parents and his older sister, he is the greatest treasure in the world.
But the story doesn’t end here. It gets even better. And it proves our President and all those that think abortion is the gateway to opportunity for the utter fools that they are.
That beautiful young woman I was telling you about? She is not the forgotten end of this story. We keep in touch. We exchange regular email with her, send her pictures and YouTube clips. She knows how beautiful her son is. She knows how loved he is and how happy our family is because he is a part of it. Even better: she is still clean. She lives at home with her family, working hard at her fast-food job, saving for community college, which she will start in the fall.
Where would she be if she had taken the easy way out? She wouldn’t have quit heroin. There’s a good chance she’d be dead. Instead, she’s working hard, reaching for her dreams, all because she chose life.
Our President’s words ring especially vile in these two households.

I Hate Housework! (So what else is new?)

"Housework......who needs it!  You get your house all clean...............six months later, you have to do it again."
- Joan Rivers
This is one of my favorite jokes!  I must confess, at times it is close to reality.  Today, however, I cleaned some of my house that I've been putting off for a while!  (notice I said SOME)  I have just one helpful hint (no, not napalm!) for myself mostly.....just picture in your mind how nice it will look when you're done!  (And with that goes the warm fuzzy feeling of accomplishment)  (I need to get a life!)  (And a maid)

Politics as usual

Here's my take on the election coming up in 2012.  I think it's going to come down to Romney and Obama.  Here's why:  1. The New Hampshire Primary election.  By New Hampshire law, they have the first primary elections in the country.  In New Hampshire they allow voters who have not declared their party affiliation to vote in any primary election.  This means that even though a person votes traditionally as a democrat, if they have not declared they are a democrat, they can vote in the republican primary and republican leaning voters can vote in the democrat primary.  This produces the incentive to vote for the other side's perceived worst candidate.  The one the most people on the other side would hate or who would have a the toughest time in a national campaign.

The democrats did this with John McCain in the 2008 election year.  Republicans did this back to them by....oh, wait...the republicans aren't tricky enough to do it back to the dems.  In the interest of full disclosure, I'm a registered republican, but only because the Constitution Party hasn't gathered enough steam, yet to produce a viable candidate, but I digress.

2.  The other reason Romney will win in the primary election is what's called a "committeeman".  A "committeman" is:   according to Websters, "the leader of a political ward or precinct".  Which means (the short version) the person who gets to pick the candidates who will appear on the ballot.  For a more complete explanation, check out eagleforum.org and do a search (I can't do everything for you!).  If you are wondering why it's been difficult to nearly impossible to get a great conservative candidate on the ballot, blame the committeemen!  Traditionally, there have been far more liberals than conservatives in these very important positions.  Unless the tea party has been able to place enough conservatives in committeemen positions, we will be stuck with yet another RINO.

3.  Romney made a deal with RNC last election and with McCain.  It basically went like this:  "I'll release my delegates this time, then next election will be my turn to be the candidate."  (Playground politics....same thing happens in Kindergarten all the time.)

Having said all that, I actually like Mitt Romney.  I saw what his leadership did for the Olympics in Salt Lake City.  He's a nice man, with a nice family.  I still think he's a RINO, but I believe he would govern as a RINO light.  At least he doesn't hate us all, just for being Americans.

Waste of FAT Space

I finally finished a painting I've been working on for 2 years!!  Actually, it only took me one year to paint it (only?) because I stared at the blank canvas for a whole year.  (I know, it's pathetic.)  (the voice in my head is saying..."I said you were a waste of FAT space"!)  I think I won't paint another big canvas in the near future.  I know the art collectors of the world are absolutely gasping in horror at the announcement of my not painting a large canvas, but it's just too hard on my sensitive nerves!  I think I'll go back to painting rocks!

Winter in St. Anthony

It's winter in St.Anthony
And the gentle breezes blow,
70 miles per hour at 52 below!
Oh, how I love St.Anthony
When the snow's up to your butt;
You take a breath of winter air
And your nose is frozen shut.
Yes, the weather here is wondeerful,
You may think I'm a fool.
I could never leave St.Anthony,
'Cause I'm frozen to the stool!

Not by Kay F. Harrison he put it on his FB page....he says he's not sure who wrote it.  If you know the author, please let me know so proper credit can be given!!

This is a perfect example of a vent that I want on my blog!!  Excellent!

Bin Laden's death

Congratulations to the military team that killed the despicable person known as Osama Bin Laden (or however you want to spell it....it doesn't really matter).  As Martha Stewart would say, "It's a good thing".  The military men and women who risk their lives doing what their country asks of them deserve our highest praise and thanks!  Keep up the good work!  The military now needs more money and more support from our anti-military President and Congress (most of them).  First they need to reaffirm that this Country stands for freedom for all people around the world, then provide the support the military needs to keep the terrorists in fear.  Let them know that while we as a people don't look for fights, if you provoke us, WE WILL HURT YOU!  Ronald Reagan was so right when he said, "When you can't make them see the light, make them feel the heat."  Amen!
